A Salute to American Blues and Jazz

From Blues To Hip Hop

Girl with Clarinet
An interactive musical-poetical performance that blends traditional jazz and blues music with classic and original poetry. Using the guitar and clarinet, plus some home-made instruments, the Huckabuckers continue to share their passion for poetry and music with listeners young and old.
Musical styles surveyed in the perfomance include: Blues, Ragtime, Hot Jazz, Boogie Woogie, Swing, Doo Wop, and Hip-Hop.
This introduction to traditional American music and poetry encourages students to make poetry and music out of their everyday environment. This 45 minute assembly show whisks students on a whirlwind tour of American styles and leaves them ready to go make music and poetry out of what they are discovering about the world.

Huckabuckers will work with your school to create content rich workshops that connect directly to your school's curriculum.

The shows themselves offer a look into American poetic forms, the math of blues and jazz music, the science of developing an instrument, and the history of music and culture in America. Call for more information about how we can design a residency to fit your specific needs.
